New study highlights the importance of small-scale woodland enterprises in rural Scotland

15 September 2018

The Forest Policy Group, working with John Clegg Consulting Ltd., has produced a new piece of research that highlights the importance of small-scale woodland related businesses to Scotland’s rural economy. We estimate that there are some 6,255 people working in small-scale woodland enterprises, generating and spending some £69.8 million pounds per annum. This scale of employment and revenue to local economies in rural Scotland especially in fragile rural communities is significant.
